Reverse engineering: the best of two worlds (7 benefits)

At Tronix, we love to discover, try out new things, learn from them - and then do it better. That’s helped to launch quite a few LED products that we can be proud of. Sometimes we use existing concepts and products to perfect our own: reverse engineering. And we’re happy to explain how that works to your advantage.

We also build things from scratch, of course. In fact, we love it, because coming up with successful innovations always gives us a kick. But it can have some disadvantages. Like speed, for example: it can take some time to go from the first sketches to finally introducing a product to the market.

Reverse engineering allows us to combine the best of two worlds: we take one of our partners’ products (we collaborate intensively with production locations all over the world), and we use our knowledge and experience to optimise the product.

Here are seven of the benefits that make reverse engineering such an attractive option:

1. Better design, all thanks to reverse engineering.

There’s no accounting for taste. In Europe, we have different aesthetic preferences from other places in the world, and even in Europe people have different ideas of what makes a product appealing. Reverse engineering allows us to change the design to perfectly suit the needs of the individual sales market.

2. Ease of installation

Fixtures should be as simple and intuitive to install as possible. So we always consider what a product needs for seamless installation. Different screws? Better instructions? Clearer symbols? Whatever it takes for a perfect application.

3.Using reverse engineering for the best Colors

Light fixtures used to come in either aluminium or brass, but today’s trend is mainly black and white. Fortunately, the perfect collaboration we have with our partners means that’s not a problem: we can supply whatever the customer demands.

4. Light color

The color of the light largely determines what kind of atmosphere a lamp can create. Bright daylight is perfect for a warehouse, for example, but in your living room you want a warmer, cosier atmosphere.

5. Brightness

The same consideration that applies to the color of light also applies to brightness. Reverse engineering allows us to always offer the light intensity for the desired situation, so that the user can experience the light as it was intended.

6. Options

Adjustable? Dimmable? Water-resistant? Other options? We can modify any existing lighting until you as a customer are satisfied. We do run in to the occasional situation where we have to tell a customer ‘no’, but you can always rely on us to do our utmost to avoid that.

7. OEM

When we find that we have to launch a new product, then OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) is the logical next step. We’ll design something new from scratch, but never from a blank slate: we use all of our acquired knowledge and expertise to arrive at the perfect solution.

Using reverse engineering for the best price

And we haven’t even mentioned the biggest advantage of reverse engineering: the price. We adopt proven concepts, then add our (read: your) needs and preferences. The result is a short development time, for a lower price, and we hold on to our lead in the market. That’s what we call a win-win situation!
